Our Nursery Program
For many students, AIS Nursery marks the beginning of their journey at the Australian International School. Within a safe and nurturing environment, children are welcomed into the AIS family and supported through caring relationships and purposeful play. Our early years approach focuses on each child’s individual development, building confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of wellbeing. Guided by specialist early childhood educators and supported by low adult-to-child ratios, every child receives personalised care and attention to grow and thrive.
Development-Based Grouping
Flexible placement ensures that transitions between groups are based on each child’s developmental needs - allowing them to grow at their own pace with confidence and security.
Age Guide (flexible based on development)
• Cuddly Koalas – Birth to ~18 months
• Wobbly Wombats – ~18 to 24 months
• Little Dingoes – ~2 to 3 years
Nursery Learning Groups
Our nursery program is divided into three learning groups:
• Cuddly Koalas – A calm, caring space where our youngest learners are supported to explore the world through sensory play, movement, and one-on-one nurturing interactions.
• Wobbly Wombats – A space for curious toddlers, full of opportunities for hands-on discovery, early language, and developing independence within a safe and social setting.
• Little Dingoes – Vibrant and engaging, this space supports the growing confidence of older toddlers through play-based learning, creative expression, and early routines that prepare them for the next stage.
