Senior Secondary

At AIS Sharjah, the senior secondary years are a time of discovery, determination, and direction. These crucial years nurture students' growing independence and prepare them for a world of change and opportunity. We empower students to develop their passions, sharpen their academic strengths, and embrace the values of global citizenship.

Grade 10: Building Foundations for the Future

Grade 10 acts as a bridge between middle years and the rigour of senior secondary programs. Students follow the Australian Curriculum and participate in the Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan process to align their learning with future goals.

Core Areas of Study Include:

  • English: General or Advanced
  • Mathematics: Essential, General, or Advanced
  • Sciences: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Science in Practice, Psychology
  • Humanities & Arts: Business, Drama, Visual Arts, Film & Media, ICT
  • Languages: French, Arabic
  • Personal Development: Health & PE, Moral Education, Islamic Studies (where applicable)

Grades 11–12: Pathways to Success

AIS offers two world-recognized programs for senior students:

QCE is offered via two pathways:

  • Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) ATAR Pathway: For academically driven students aiming for global university admissions, including Ivy League and Russell Group universities.
  • Subjects: 5 General subjects or 4 General + 1 Applied
  • Must complete an English subject
  • ATAR calculated by QTAC
  • Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) Applied Pathway: Ideal for practical learners interested in local university admissions and flexible study options.
  • Emphasis on applied, hands-on learning
  • Subjects include: Tourism, Sport & Recreation, Visual Art in Practice, ICT, Business Studies

  • Duke of Edinburgh – Bronze Award: Open to all QCE students, this prestigious international award fosters personal growth, resilience, and leadership.
  • Curtin University Foundation Program (Dubai): Students can undertake university-level ICT coursework, gaining credits and early university exposure.
